Ocean's Etch was born in Newcastle, NSW, Australia, a place where the ocean is always present, always moving, always shaping the coastline and the people who live beside it.

Founded by creative Sarah Western, Ocean's Etch began as something deeply personal. The ocean has always been her anchor, a place of calm, strength, and grounding through difficult mental health moments. In times when life felt overwhelming, the rhythm of the waves became something to hold onto.

The Beginning

Sarah began collecting seashells along the shoreline. At first, it was simple, a quiet habit of noticing beauty in what had been left behind.

Over time, the collection grew. She had so many shells, each one unique, each one carrying its own story shaped by the sea. They were too special to let go of, but she didn’t yet know what they would become.

In 2024, Sarah took a solo road trip along Australia’s East Coast, a journey that deepened her connection to the ocean even further.

Along the way, she experienced a moment that stayed with her deeply: a sunset afternoon spent collecting seashells on the shoreline. In that simple act, she felt a rare and powerful sense of happiness, pure, playful, and completely present.
